I pulled out the new impeller (solas concord 15/20) and slipped it into the new wear ring. There is a lot of gap. Completely different to what I was expecting. I have seen many videos where people are fighting to install the impeller. I pulled out another new wear ring I bought previously and it to has the same gap.

Be advised: limit posted in that chart means clearance should not exceed 0.024"! In fluid dynamics, zero clearance would be ideal. However, out of roundness of impeller housing, imp. possibly being a few thousands oor, vibration of vanes whipping around, will certainly dictate about 0.010" clearance.-There would be a bit of slippage at 0.024".

Are you sure it's the wear ring. Looking into the pump, it should be easy to tell. It'll also make a nice grinding sound out of the water. I don't have any experience with the replaceable wear ring, but you made it 8 years on the stock ones. I'd give them another shot, or go with the fully stainless RIVA housings.
